yearning, melodic vocals of Tim Smith. This is a symphony of folk rock that needs to be played over-and-over again to be truly appreciated. With so many moody undertones and hidden lyrical gems layered over driving rhythms.
Most of us are sad: in ricordo di Glenn Frey
«Quando si riuniranno gli Eagles?», chiedevano i giornalisti, durante la pausa del gruppo (durata 14 anni, dal 1980 al 1994), ai suoi ex-componenti. When hell freezes over, «quando congelerà l’inferno», rispondevano questi, lasciando intuire non sarebbe mai accaduto e facendo pensare ci fossero, dietro la scelta di interrompere una delle attività discografiche più redditizie di tutti i tempi, fratture personali non ricomponibili.

Choir of Young Believers Live on KCRW – Patricia’s Thirst
Their debut was a haunting, orchestral affair drenched in reverb. Their follow up had some short poppy songs as well as 10-minute pieces. Jannis says that the idea was to take it to the extremes – with catchy pop and experimental work. He said the first album felt like it was “too much of the same thing” and, once they took it on the road, they ended up adding a lot of elements. Jóhannsson blended electronic elements seamlessly with classical music. His film scores are visually and sonically evocative, and for me his earlier work is equally and maybe even more stunning. It’s tragic that he died at the height of his career, and there is still no information on the cause of his premature demise.

“John Fogerty is a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, a living legend, and he’s been on our dream list for years,” remarks Ken Hays, festival founder. “Widespread Panic is another band that we’ve long sought to play at the Vibes. I’m psyched to have them as a headliner, and I know the VibeTribe feels the same way!”
Jóhann Jóhannsson and Rupert Gregson-Williams main winners at World Soundtrack Awards 2017
Much like Julian Plenti did last year for Interpol, Postdata provides us with some much needed new material as we await the new Wintersleep album, set for release in May. The better side projects produce music that would not be possible in the main band. Wintersleep’s harder edge precludes the possibility of many quiet acoustic songs, but Postdata provides a loving sanctuary for songs that might have otherwise gone unheard.
